2nd DWI Arrest For Dwight Gooden
Former MLB pitcher Dwight Gooden received his second DWI charge on Monday. Police say they stopped the 54-year-old after he drove the wrong way on a one-way street. This is his second arrest in the past two months. Recently, police arrested Gooden in June for suspected cocaine possession and DUI in Holmdel, New Jersey.
However, Gooden has admitted that he needs help. On Sunday, he told the New York Post he is “going away to try to get some help to save my life”. The 1985 National League Cy Young award winner has had problems with substance abuse in the past. For example, he served jail time in 2006 for drug use.
Adrian Peterson In Deep Debt
Redskins running back Adrian Peterson is in deep debt after making nearly $100M during his NFL career. Currently, DV sued Peterson after failing to pay a $5.2M loan. In addition, he has defaulted on other loans, which add up to about $7M.
“The truth behind Adrian Peterson’s current financial situation is more than is being reported at this time,” Chase Carlson, Peterson’s attorney, said Tuesday in a statement. “Because of ongoing legal matters, I am unable to go into detail, but I will say this is yet another situation of an athlete trusting the wrong people and being taken advantage of by those he trusted. Adrian and his family look forward to sharing further details when appropriate.”
Wizards Offer Beal 3-Year Extension
Washington Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard plans to offer guard Bradley Beal a three-year, $111 million maximum contract extension. As soon as the All-Star becomes eligible to sign, he has until October 21st to sign the extension. This extension would start in the 2021-2022 season. However, Beal’s agent says that Beal needs time to consider.
“There are moments in a career where there are big decisions to make, and Brad will work through everything and figure out the right thing to do,” his agent said. “There are nothing but great feelings for Ted, Tommy, and Scott. They’ve treated Brad wonderfully.”
NASCAR Crew Chief Dies At 37
NASCAR crew chief Nick Harrison died late Saturday night at the age of 37. They announced the death at the following morning’s race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and honored him with a moment of silence before the race began. No further details were given. Harrison was Justin Haley’s crew chief.
Predators Sign Sissons To 7-Year Contract
The Nashville Predators signed forward Colton Sissons to a 7 year, $20M contract. This contract lasts until the 2025-2026 season, following his last five years with the Predators. “Colton will be an important part of our team for the next seven seasons, and we are happy he has made a long-term commitment to our organization and the city of Nashville,” Predators president David Poile said in a statement.
