Ram Gopal Varma had planned to make a Bollywood flick “Let’s Catch Veerappan” in 2004.

It was a dark comedy about three villagers, who, lured by the reward on the bandit, lead to the unintentional deaths of dozens of police officials. Veerappan was caught and killed on the first day of shooting! Verma dropped the plan as there was not much point to carry on with it. ”Let’s Catch Veerappan” shelved to deathblow.

Never completed Indian movies :

There are a number of movies which despite being promising, could not be completed. Here is our list of 5 never completed Indian movies. Even being an interesting project, that never been completed.

5. Talisman

This film seemed to be India’s answer to ‘Lord of the Rings’ wherein Big B was seen on a horse in a getup that reminded of Gandalf. The eye catching trailer of ‘Talisman’ was also played during ‘Eklavya’. Starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role, Ram Madhvani was to direct the epic film which got shelved subsequently.

Taalismaan is to be produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and written by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Ram Madhvani and Swanand Kirkire. It was based on the epic novel Chandrakanta written by Devaki Nandan Khatri in 1892.

It is believed that the project dropped because of a weak script. However, insiders believe that financial issue was the actual cause.

4. Khuda Gawah

No, this is not a mistake, because this is not the same ‘Khuda Gawah’ you are thinking of.

Much before his 1992 hit ‘Khuda Gawah’, Amitabh Bachchan was to star in a film with the same name in 1978. This youtube footage shows Amitabh Bachchan in a double role alongside Parveen Babi. Mr bachchan as a cowboy would have been interesting.

Manmohan Desai’s brother Subhash Desai was to make this film which got shelved.

In 1992 director Mukul Anand used the same title for a ‘Amitabh Bachchan’ & ‘Sridevi’ blockbuster movie.

3. Time Machine

Inspired by “Back to the future”, Shekhar Kapur took an ambitious project starred Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon, Rekha and Naseeruddin Shah. This was to follow up the successful science-fiction of Mr. India with another sci-fi ‘Time Machine’.Though the film started shooting, it subsequently got shelved

Shekhar Kapur seemed to lose interest as financing issues caused delays and there were some casting issues (Aamir apparently wanted Juhi Chawla to replace Raveena Tandon).

Another interesting and entertaining movie which was never completed.

2. Munnabhai chale America

The team of Rajkumar Hirani and Vinod Chopra gave bollywood a series of heart worming films of Munna Bhai.. The first film is Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. (2003) and the second is LageRahoMunna Bhai (2006). The trailer of the third installment was launched with Vidhu vinod Chopra’’s “Eklavya”. The trailer, starring Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi, created interest among the viewers.

On 21 March 2013, India’s Supreme Court sentenced Sanjay Dutt to 5 years imprisonment as he was convicted of illegal possession of arms relating to the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. Thus, Hirani has dropped Munna Bhai Chale Amerika. He had planned a different storyline which may be filmed after Dutt’s release from prison.

1. Marudhanayagam

Launch by Queen Elizabeth II, Marudhanayagam is the most debated and long-delayed high budget Indian movie. In October 1997 Kamal Haasan started directing and producing it in tamil language. However since the launch, due to different reasons, the film never resumed.

This was the first film in India where a computer was used for screenplay writing(1998), using a particular software called the Movie Magic Screenwriter.

Marudhanayagam, the number one movie in our top 5 unfinished Indian movies list, had a huge casting included Vishnuvardhan, Nassar, Om Puri, Amrish Puri . Even Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth were approached to play guest roles. Kate Winslet was offered the lead female role of Marsha, but she rejected.

However the co-producing British company backed out and the film has been indefinitely postponed since. Hassan who invested ₹ 8 crores of his own wealth into the project through, is planning a resurfacing in 2015.
