Welcome To The Alliance Of American Football
The new Alliance of American Football (AAF) began their season last Saturday. The new football league, announced in March, is an eight team league which focuses on complimenting the NFL’s offseason. It’s mission statement is to provide “high-quality professional football fueled by a dynamic Alliance between players, fans and the game”.
Before the AAF announced a player draft, they announced the coaches for their first 8 teams. This includes such names as Tim Lewis and Kevin Coyle. The 8 states involved are Arizona, Utah, California, Florida, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, and Alabama. The league has a 10 week, 40 game season, and people expect it to do very well.
MLB Releases 150th Anniversary Logo
The MLB released their new 150th anniversary logo on Tuesday. The logo, which features callbacks to their previous celebration in ’69, will appear on all player gear in the next season. It shows a silhouetted batter, which appeared on the ’69 celebration logo. It also is more horiontal than the logos used for the 100th and 125th anniversary logos.
The logo will also be available on caps for opening day. For players and coaches, the logo will be on the right sleeves. It shows a batter in white prepared to hit a white ball, a blue background in front of the batter, and red behind.
Denny Hamlin Dedicates 2019 To J.D. Gibbs
Denny Hamlin dedicated the 2019 NASCAR season to the memory of J.D. Gibbs, his team’s co-founder. For each lap he completes, Hamlin’s charity is donating $111 to the J.D. Gibbs Legacy Fund in 2019. He also wants to dedicate a victory to Gibbs.
“It’ll be super important,” Hamlin said. “Obviously, everyone knows how important he was for me and my career and everything he did for us. Certainly having success on track will be crucial for that. Now that I pledged $111 for every lap we lead, it’s going to be important for me to get up front and be up front often.”
Basketball Standings This Week
Entering into the second half of the week, the Bucks lead the eastern conference with a 42-14 record. They are followed closely by the Raptors, who have a 42-16 record. However, on the bottom of the eastern conference sit the Knicks, who have a 10-46 record.
Over on the western conference, the Warriors lead with a 41-15 record. In second place lies the Nuggets, who have a 38-18 record. On the flipside, the Suns have the worst record in the conference, with a 11-47 record.
David Pastrnak Out For Two Weeks
David Pastrnak will be out for at least two weeks after injuring his thumb. He attended a sponsorship dinner when he fell and injured his thumb Sunday evening. Pastrnak is expected to play again this season. As the Bruin’s top scorer, he has 31 goals and 35 assists this season.
